About Darold Joseph, Ph.D.

Darold H. Joseph, Ph.D. is a member of the Hopi Nation. He recently defended his dissertation in the Disability and Psychoeducational Studies department at the University of Arizona. Currently, he works for the Institute for Human Development at Northern Arizona  as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist with the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Training and Technical Assistance Center to provide support to 88 American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Nations. His research examines the intersections of Indigenous knowledge, Western education, and dis/ability to identify factors that contribute to the resilience of AI/ANs with disabilities to persist in higher education. Dr. Joseph has a dual bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Elementary Education and a Master’s of Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Joseph is passionate about his work to encourage and support students from underrepresented communities to pursue higher education.
