About Juan Berumen

Experienced social justice advocate in policy and program analysis with a demonstrated track-record of removing systemic barriers to create access and facilitate success for historically marginalized populations underrepresented in higher education. With a PhD in Education Policy Studies from Indiana University, Dr. Berumen positions his research and practical experience working with communities, universities, and schools in California, Indiana, and Mexico to direct these endeavors and institutionalize equity and inclusion in higher education. Currently, he is works at UC Berkeley as staff and lecturer and co-edited a volume for New Directions in Institutional Research, which looks at positioning assessment in higher education as a tool for social justice advocacy.
